Dr. Ju's Message
Chemical Biomolecular Engineering at Akron has a long tradition of
excellence in education and research. Our goal is to prepare our students
with the necessary skills so that they can contribute to a highly
technical global society through their professional careers. The
philosophy of the Chemical Engineering faculty is to provide a strong
theoretical foundation supported by practical applications of that
knowledge. Graduates from the 1998-2001 classes are employed in various
sects of industry: polymer (40%), process instrumentation and control
(25%), environmental (15%), and biotech or other areas (20%). A
significant number of our graduates also hold a managerial position or
higher in the chemical industry. This clearly demonstrates that our
students’ successes are reflected in their career growth. Our faculty
members have been frequently recognized for their excellence in research
and teaching scholarship; all ten faculty members are currently receiving
support from National Science Foundation, which funds only excellent
projects of national significance, for their endeavors. I invite you to
visit this website and our campus.
