The Chemical Engineering Department at The University
of Akron is currently seeking to fill a tenured endowed
professorship (until Aug 2008 or position is filled).
Candidates with international recognition as an expert
in biochemistry, biochemical engineering, biomaterials,
or a related field are strongly encouraged to apply. The
successful candidate is expected to teach graduate and
undergraduate level courses, to supervise masters and doctoral
students, and to conduct a vigorous, self-reliant research
program that leads the department in external funding and
scholarly productivity. Participation in faculty governance,
professional service and instructional support are also
required for this tenured, chaired, full-time position.
The department presently has 10 faculty, 183 undergraduates
and 42 full time graduate (24 Ph.D.) students. Research funding
during the past year was more than 1 million dollars. Applicants
